CHICAGO, May 24, 2024 – Jeff Kroeger, President of Insureon, shared valuable insights into the world of small business insurance on the Wintrust Business Lunch podcast.
He discussed insurance market trends, key commercial insurance policies that business owners need, and how Insureon can help them find the best coverage.
Also, Jeff addressed rate increases felt across markets and locations. He explained how current material costs can play a large role in the commercial property premiums small businesses owners receive. This is especially true with the increase in catastrophic weather events and the rising cost of materials often needed to restore damaged property.
Expanding on the cost of insurance, he shared a couple ways that small business owners can work with their broker to find the best coverage to fit within their budget, rather than canceling their policy. By maintaining continuous insurance coverage, Jeff stated, you’ll not only protect your business from a potentially devastating loss, but also ensure your customers will continue to work with you.
When asked what policies are most important for small businesses just starting out, he mentioned general liability insurance, commercial property insurance, workers’ compensation insurance (even for sole proprietors), and cyber insurance. The last policy is especially important given the rise of data hacking and ransomware.
